Wendy Thomas is an incredible mindset coach who is passionate about inspiring people to accomplish their dreams personally and professionally. I was fortunate enough to work with Wendy through her mindset coaching program and her natural positivity and enthusiasm were infectious. She helped motivate me to attain goals which I at one time felt were beyond my reach. Wendy’s insights coupled with her successful career in the corporate world are life changing. Check out her top three tips for Leaders who are striving to achieve their Strategic Goals.

January is notorious for goal setting and having a fresh start but what can commonly occur as the weeks go by is those New Year’s resolutions and those goals we set on January 1st slowly melt away and our life as before takes over. Leaders have been charged with an even more daunting task this year of visioning and revisioning during such uncertainty. There are three essential tips I have that will help to keep you moving ahead:

1) THE WANT

Create strategic goals that you really want. If you don't create ones that you really believe in, then you will always run the risk of being distracted. When the want is weak, you will quit at the first obstacle. This is the most common breakdown of goal setting.

2) PERSISTENCE

Make persistence your most well-developed habit. Persistence cannot be replaced by any other quality. Superior skills will not make up for it. A well-rounded formal education cannot replace it. Nor will calculated plans or a magnetic personality. When you are persistent, your leadership and vision will be valued.

3) DECISION-MAKING

Decisions, or the lack of them, are responsible for the breaking or making of many a strategic goal. You can virtually eliminate conflict and confusion in your life by becoming proficient at making decisions. If you have established clear strategic goals, then you need to make clear and complete decisions along the way. Decision-making brings order to your mind, and in the end - your results.

So, choose strategic goals that you truly want, be persistent about going after them, and make decisions that will bring you closer to achieving them. Simple right? The thing is, it really can be if you can tap into the awareness of yourself in your environment and with others to unhook unproductive behaviours that aren’t helping to propel you forward.
