Leadership is always dynamic but this year has been particularly challenging. The question I keep asking myself is “How do I continue to lead with enthusiasm when I feel exhausted by my circumstances?” Although not a perfect recipe, the following are three strategies that have served me well:
1. Leveraging Momentum
The pandemic has forced organizations to be quick, pivot rapidly, develop solutions that would have taken much longer historically. Once you have gained momentum, don’t stop. Continue to be innovative and solution focused.
2. Be Compassionate, Have Trust and be Flexible
Each and every person has challenges they may be facing as a result of the pandemic. Acknowledge what is happening, develop trust while being clear about outcomes and be flexible with the “how.”
3. Maintain that no challenge is Insurmountable
Every challenge has a solution but energizing others around you to move forward is essential. Keep communications short, deliverables clear and share insights about how you overcome obstacles and challenges.
